My dynamic sister-in-law, Colleen Jackson is the director of two programs addressing homelessness in New York City that dare to think outside the box. West End Intergenerational Residence provides temporary housing and support services to homeless young mothers and their children together with permanent supportive housing for seniors on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. True Colors Residence provides permanent housing with support services to formerly homeless and at-risk lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth in Central Harlem.

Bio
A New York City native, Mary Ellen Bartley now resides in Wainscott, on the east end of Long Island. Her muse is the book, and she has made a number of series involving them: Blue Books, Paperbacks, Artists & Models and her series looking into her photography books Standing Open. Bartley was a Photolucida Critical Mass 2011 top 50 winner. A combination of her book projects, Books, was exhibited at Corden Potts Gallery in San Francisco and she was chosen by the painter Ross Bleckner to exhibit her work alongside his at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York. Upcoming shows include Out of Print at the Bakersfield Art Museum and a solo show at The Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, NY.
